That is only ONE copy of the barring gene, and it's a boy - therefore it is not a Barred Plymouth Rock.its a cockerel breed looks like it might be a mix with a barred parent possible black sex link. can you get a pic of it standing

If you use a barred male of any breed, any offspring will be barred. If you use a barred hen with other roosters who are not barred, only the sons will be barred.
This could even be a Cuckoo Marans cross.
Either way, it is not a Barred Plymouth Rock.

I do not know about other countries. Just North America. Barred Rocks originated in the USA, so they should adhere to the American Standard of Perfection worldwide IMO.In most cases you are correct. However, in the UK aren't the SQ Barred Rock cocks supposed to have one barring gene? Is it a DQ here in the states for the cock to have one barring gene, or is it that we don't bother with the excess of the black pullets?
Regardless, it looks to me like they have white ears, or am I crazy?
