Elvis' birthplace......
I am looking for good bloodline Shetland Sheep. I live in NE MS and NO ONE around has them. I have 2 and LOVE them to death and would love to add some more ewes.

but I didn't know there actually was a shetland sheep. Just the shetland sheepdog. I thought it was just a title. Just like a person can be non chalant. But cannot be just chalant! Or can be uncouth but can't be couth!

I'm interested in Shetland sheep as well... maybe next year.

Are you raising them for fiber?

You might want to search for some type of fiber festival. They were selling them at the Great Lakes Fiber Festival here in Ohio a few weeks ago.

I am not interested in them for the fiber at all. I had two shorn today and my GOD at the wool that came off of them, I have it sacked up to throw on the burn pile. I have 2 full blooded shetlands and they are the EASIEST keepers, easy to birth, really parasite resistant, no hoof problems etc... I have several breeds right now but they are my favorites and I want more of them and get rid of the others. The only problem is that everybody that has them is up North or out in the Midwest.

Don't know much about em but know lots of folks around here that have them. Similar climate to to their native British Isles, I guess. You probably dont want to truck em down from New Englandm tho, now do you?!

Mebbe I can ask around and see if anyone knows message boards for such a thing . . .

The lady that shears them for me said that it would cost more to ship it, than it would bring. There's only a handful of people around us that have sheep and they are all hair sheep so there really isn't a market for wool or sheep.
