I am trying to hook it up today, and I have it turning on and set to 37.5 C, it says it's heating, but it won't put any power to the light bulb, is the unit defective or am I doing something wrong?

With out having the directions and looking at how you have it set up,it is hard to help. I know you have to put the controller in Heat mode and set the parameters,it should say something like Lower value set point and Differential or Hysteresis and Higher value set point.

The schematic that is shown does NOT power the device. It is just a fancy relay. You have to wire up to the heat side with 120VAC ( terminals 5,6) to get the bulb to work. The 110VAC that is shown (terminals 1,2) is to power the unit. Just cut the wire on the light cord (BLACK) and screw it down, one side under #5 and the other side under #6. This will break the circuit and let the relay work. It is just like a light switch.
REMEMBER you are ONLY cutting ONE of the wires. You are just trying to break the citcuit. Power will leave the wall on the hot side go through the #5 terminal and out the #6 (as long as the relay is calling for heat). Then it will go to the light and back down to the wall on the neutral side. Hope this helps.

Ugh, why did I have to move so far away from my daddy! My husband is afraid of electricity ever since he was working on wiring in a high rise in San Francisco (He was told the power was cut, but it wasn't) He was thrown 20 feet off a ladder, and shorted out half the building, so now I'm stuck doing it mostly alone, and I'm confused!

I am soo happy! My eggs are being shipped in the next couple of days, so I was worried I would fry them, if I couldn't get the thermostat to work.
