Does anyone do any home sewing?

I used to sew quite a bit but have not made anything in quite a while. I was thinking of running up a few cotton dresses for myself just to wear around the house in summer but where do you find the fashionable large floral prints?

I have seen a couple of dresses advertised on TV at Belks that I really liked. The material is white with a large tropical print design. Does anyone know where I could find that type of material, or anything pretty?

Not sure on where to get that material - fabric store? the only one I can think of is Joann Fabric and I am not sure if it is on your coast (or even out of WA state

) or maybe ebay?

I saw some in the Wal Mart fabric department in El Paso, but there is Joannes, Hobby Lobby, and all kids of online shops,, oh and Ebay!!

I like Jo-ann fabric store!! They have a wide selection, walmart is good too!

Like everyone has mentioned, your local fabric store should have what you're looking for.

I sew when I can get myself to sit in one place long enough. My last piece was a hand sewn (had already sold my sewing machine) pleated skirt made out of old cotton t-shirt from my scrap pile. It took me 5 hours with a few breaks. Aand now it's too big, so I might sell it xD

I like to sew

I don't know much about sewing machines, so I do what I need to by hand. Needless to say, I don't sew many things. This is the only sewing machine we have. It looks like it came from the stone ages!

yes I do!
As a matter of fact, Just went to a fabric store called "joanne fabrics" and bought a beauftiul floral summer fabric. Its already got ribbing (i think thats the word) on the top, so all you do is sew it up!
i make these mathing ones for me and my daughter! We can match!!! It ends up being a tube style (armless etc.) dress.
I will have to take a picture when i finish them up. I plan to make them today after work somtime. i havent made any other kinds tho.
I love knitting and make scarfs, hats and pocketbooks. those are fun.
One of these days, I would love to get a sewing machine.
I dont want a fancy machine, just a basic one. any brands anyone might recommend?
