Does anyone else give your Polish "haircuts"?

I've read that Polish are somewhat high maintenence compared to other breeds....one reason being that they can't see as well due to impaired vision from their crests blocking vision. As a result, they can be more prone to injury. I get around this by giving my Polish 'haircuts'. It works well for our birds and I just wondered if anyone else does this?

Yes I have and do give mine hair cuts around the eyes to help with the vision. It's not something I do all the time or with all my birds. Depends what type of personality the individual bird has. If they are a little flighty and spooky at stuff I will trim them up a little. Also I have found with the frizzle variety the crest skin can get pulled forward over the eye causing issues. I found trimming the feathers back took some weight off the front of the crest. This is Poppet and he had to have it trimmed due to it being pulled forward ~

Yet on the other hand this frizzle hen has a super crest but because she is of a more quiet personality she does not require trimming! She has no eye issues so I just leave her be.As long as you speak to hear as you approach she is fine ~
