As I said these are not mine, but if I did keep one I'd have her trimmed the same way, I prefer the nice soft look. Really don't care to much for the "correct" trim (I also prefer the natural ears on a schnauzer). Looks like most the dogs on this thread are pretty much trimmed the same way, so I'm going to say it's a fairly popular pet schnauzer cut.

And cockers have their faces trimmed and their ears left long, not sure what breed this cut would be the closest comparison to, but it's not really a cocker trim.

And I don't mind someone saying they're the wrong color (or badly trimmed), I'm pretty thick skinned. We have had some of the traditional colors, we started w/ a black when I was a teen (she was the only schnauzer that I ever owned) and later owned her full sister who was salt and pepper.

you people are reading my post the wrong way... sssSSSSOORRY,, it was not ment to offend and i am not wanting to fight...

i LOVE the party color schn.. i would OWN one (if i did not have so many poodles) in fact i owned a party poodle for a while,,,
i was just saying,, if you OWN a terrier dont you want it to LOOK like the breed it is???? if you DONT thats fine.. but if you want a shnzer haircut, some of those pictures dont have the "right" haircut... thats all i was saying,,, just informing not arguing..
(and the cocker pattern, on the back, not the face is what i was talking about)
i LOVE the breed and i want mine to look like the breed it is, if you dont,, its OK...

I want one of those parti's! I would probably not go with the most proper clip either since I do my scotty myself I'd prob do my schnz myself too.

Sandypaws I don't know if I took your post wrong or not, I just wanted to say it didn't/doesn't bother me. I'd say most these dogs here are groomed in a pretty standard pet schnauzer trim, based on my very limited knowledge of grooming dogs. And there really is no doubt what breed they are, I can't really see them being mistaken for anything else. I own great danes, who don't really require any special grooming, and a chinese crested who I keep her furnishings long and her face and ears shaved. If I had a poodle I'd keep it trimmed short.

I really don't know anything about grooming terriers, but I "think" the difference here is the grooming and not the trimming, I think you are supposed to strip the coat and not use clippers. Clippers are alot faster and what most pet owners have done, I think the biggest difference in the pattern is for a show dog the legs should be shaved farther down, and their beards are usually kept longer and combed forward. I don't know if this is the grooming my parents ask for, my mom has used other groomers she wasn't happy w/ (or atleast one I remember).

I really like the "incorrect" coloring, particularly the chocolate (or liver as they call it) and chocolate and white. If I kept this one little pup I'd have her groomed like the others, I just like it better then the show cuts!

I have 2 schnauzers, male & female, both s/n 1 from a rescue and 1 from a responsible breeder. I am not sure they could be 100% trustworthy guardians with chickens. My female would be trusted without a problem my male however has an immensely strong prey drive with small animals and birds (our conure particularly). They are amazing rodent erradicators but I would move forward slowly and really look at the parents behaviours if you are looking at a puppy or better yet look at a young adult and you will be sure what type of prey drive your particular dog has if you are hoping to use them around your chickens. JMHO tho.
Here are my 2 "Terrorists"
