I have a wonderful 1 year old Speckled Sussex Roo. He is big, healthy, and protective of his girls. He crows from sunrise to sundown, which is not a problem because we live out in the country. But, he also makes another noise starting about one hour before sunrise every morning. It sounds like he is whistling, in a cadence that is similar to a crow, about 1/3 the volume of his crow. The noise is distinctly different from a crow. I've searched online and cannot find any information about other roosters doing this "warm-up" whistle. Has anyone else experience a rooster who whistles before sunrise?

Can you get a video of that so we can hear it? (for video, upload to youtube and provide a link)

I usually just throw some earplugs in, but if I can drag myself out of bed at 4:30, I'll try to get some video.
LOL That would be great!
Mine usually start up anywhere between 4-5 in the morning. I love listening to them, so no earplugs here :p
