Probably around 4 months, though the girls were not having anything to do with him, so I separated him for about a month until he got over himself a bit!

Here he is today seeing some of his chicks for the first time!

Little Poppy is 15 days old today. Just started getting her crest. Her beak and legs are almost an olive green color.

One last question (probably not the last) about silkie leghorn crosses! When would they start laying/how many egg would they lay? & how many large hens your silkie roo cover!

Happy to answer any questions I can!
Though I don’t know yet as the one I have is only three weeks old!
I expect it will be somewhere between the two breeds. Probably around five months old would be my guess. I’ll keep you updated.

My incubator just got delivered And I think it would be too cute if i set the eggs 21 days before Easter so I have little Easter chicks!

Mine is in with 10 pullets and 1 hen. All are over 6 months of age now and all are laying finally! 3 are silkies, the rest large fowl.
I have not checked fertility in all of the eggs yet, but pretty sure he is mating all of them. He should be able to cover all of them fertility wise. I will be setting silkie eggs in the Spring, so Easter sounds like a good time!
