Does anyone have a suggestion?

My chickens refused to use the boxes, and loved the floor. YUCK! I used to either wind up stepping on them or sifting through the pine shavings for them. That got old fast.

So I had to take almost all the materials off the floor and then I made the nesting boxes EXTRA fluffy. Waited for the head bird to lay and kept putting her in the box. All the others followed suit. After months of trying to get them to lay in a nesting box, that is what it took for me. Good luck!

We get a big giggle every day over one of our 5 EE's. Truffles takes FOREVER to lay an egg and the other girls pace around and are constantly peeking in to see what the heck is taking her so long. Occassionally we'll find one or two more ladies laying on top of her because she just takes too long (3 hours)

. We added another nesting box which has helped but the excessive laying time still confounds those waiting hens who do their laying in no time at all.
