Does anyone know about this cheek wound?

Hi! Can anyone help me identify if this is a known condition or what the possibilities are?

A little back story. This young lady is suppose to be a Blue Jersey Giant. At 7-8 weeks old she is less than half the size of the BJG pullet and cockerel she came with. She is about half the size of the Calico she also came with. While she could be a Sapphire Gem she is still too small to be healthy. I am not sure if she could be a bantam or something. All this to see that she seems to have already been off to an unhealthy or at least disadvantageous start.

I have been noticing a red spot where a cheek might be for a few weeks now. Well, today it is swollen and broke open. I don't think it is an outside would (like scratch from chicken wire) as I've been observing this red "cheek" already. It seems more like it's swollen from the inside but I am not sure. I have not ever noticed the bigger chicks picking on her although they could be.

Other than keeping her isolated (to her chagrin) and washing with peroxide are there any other tips on how to treat her in the meantime? Thank you!

It looks like an ear infection. I would check for ear mites, or any gunk in her ear with a Qtip. You can put a couple of drops of hydrogen peroxide into the ear canal and then clean it out gently. Then put a little plain Neospriin or triple antibiotic ointment into the ear. That would treat bacteria or kill ear mites. Repeat it for a few days. Be sure that she is getting enough to eat and drink. Sometimes they can be kept from eating. If she has any runny poops Corid for coccidiosis might be something to give her.

She's looking good, thanks again for the advice!
