I bought a chick block and it lasted only a couple days. I am handy in the kitchen and think I my time, effort and cost of ingredients would less than buying a block every couple if days for my growing girls.

I PMed you with a link to the thread that has quite a few recipes in it. You can basically throw one together from whatever you already have on hand - scratch, wild bird seed, something to bind it, etc. Bake in low oven until hardened.
