Hi guys,

My SLW hen has gone broody twice in a row (only a months break in between) and is now molting.

All of those things are extremely stressful on her body and she has lost 2lbs or more, so now she is only

4lbs and that isn't necessarily healthy. I can actually feel a huge difference when she sits on my arm

(she used to be heavier than my other hen, by a lot).

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on helping her gain weight or stay healthy in general while she

is molting? Well, just do any of you guys have suggestions on what I can do to help her gain her weight back?

Thanks

Besides feeding their normal food and some liquid vitamin added to the water we give ours some extra dried meal worms when we are trying to add a little weight. It has always seemed to work for us. Sometimes it works too well.

Be careful whit the extra protein! Extra protein can lead to kidney failure and gout followed by ascites and movement problems. Give here a balanced feed, some vegetables and fruits, an occasional boiled egg, some probiotic yogurt and let time make the rest.
