Does anyone know if you need a permit to ship hatching eggs?

Then you may find these useful -

Importing

Statue re: Importing

Entry Permit

State Department with responsibility for Poultry

County Eggs Requirements (for limited producers)

Egg Marketing Act

Enforcement

That is all, essentially, for eggs for human consumption. If the eggs leave the State, as hatching eggs, then you need to be NPIP certified, because every State whose poultry laws I've ever looked at require NPIP cert from the source of shipment for sold poultry. Within the State, information is MUCH less clear, I've not been able to find the relevant Statute in a quick key word search, or by scanning nearby statutes. Call or email your local Ag extension office.
