Does anyone know much about egg colors ?

I am curious which breed of chicken lays a darker blue or green than the easter eggers you see on many hatchery sites. Is it the stock of the bird ? Also which breeds lay speckled eggs ?

I believe a true Ameraucana or Araucana will lay the blue/green eggs. I have an Ameraucana & she lays some very pretty blue/green eggs. They were darker when she was first laying & they have gradually "lightened up" after a few months though....

I believe the "true" Auracanas lay the darker while the more common hatchery EE's or Americaunas lay the lighter shades. I have two EE"s, one lays light blue eggs and one lays pink.
