Last week I took the rooster collar off of my rooster (~1) so he could have a break from it. On Sunday I got back from church and he was making a very weird noise. it was like a low crow almost a growl. So I looked around the coop, checked food and water, and counted my chickens. It's day 2 and it has only gotten worse, he cant even crow correctly.

Maybe he's suffering from damage due to the collar.

He was fine for about 5 days crowing as loud as can be.

Also, when I get home I'll make sure to attach a video.

Maybe he is hoarse from over-exercising his crow when the collar was removed. That happens to young cockerels that are just learning to crow.
