There is several problems with the charcoal's the biggest problem is the hens don't lay. Brad had a necropsy done on one and she has all of the reproduction organs but for some reason they want produce eggs. In 2009 I was talking to Brad and he told me he had a spalding charcoal hen that layed some eggs she was with a spalding split charcoal male but he didn't get any charcoal color chicks. This is the only color that is not approve by the UPA it been under consideration for years.
