Thank you! This is my first time with quails so it’s all new to me. I’ll try to keep searching, but thanks for the feedback!I don’t really know much about quail anatomy, but it looks like it could be dislocated. I’ve also seen another photo that looks similar to this and it was a tumour.
Don’t take my advice too seriously, I just know how it feels to be worried about a pet and have no one respond.
Hope the poor baby is ok![]()
They are all on a 30% protein starter feed. Had to move him indoors and separate from the rest since he was getting picked on. They have a large raised hutch cage outside with rubber coated wiring on the floors. What exactly do you feed it?what does it's cage look like .. specifically the floor of it's cage? Pictures of the cage?
Can you go out and take a picture of the cage including the floor of it?They are all on a 30% protein starter feed. Had to move him indoors and separate from the rest since he was getting picked on. They have a large raised hutch cage outside.
We mainly just stick to their feed, occasionally we will chop up some veggies and lettuce for them to eat.Can you go out and take a picture of the cage including the floor of it?
Do you feed any treats or anything else besides this feed?
Yeah I’m not sure. It hasn’t gotten worse since, and there isn’t a wound or anything so I don’t what’s causing it. The vet near me specializes in small animal household pets, but maybe I’ll be able to find another. So far he’s been eating and pooping normally so that’s good! It's hard to say from the picture. The joint does look out of place, but that could be due to the swelling rather than the cause of the swelling. Is a vet an option? In the meantime, I would separate it so it can have peace and quiet. This will also allow you to see how much it's eating and drinking and what the poop looks like (normal or not).
Thanks. We mainly just stick to their feed, occasionally we will chop up some veggies and lettuce for them to eat.
Here are a few photos I found on my phone of part of their cage.
