I agree that the photo could be poop, but the center of the item is actually like a hollowed out piece of beef jerky with the feathers intact on the exterior.

Now that it has been a while, and no one's butt has fallen off, the only logical explanation is that either a predator dropped their meal close to the edge of the chicken run, or that a small wild bird made it's way into the run and was dispatched by my flock.
