Does anyone know where to buy Saxony ducks?

Question for saxony show people....

First, I noticed one of the saxony ducks has a lighter area on her bill as if she had an injury to her bill. Would she be disqualified for this type of thing?

Second, one duck has black on her bean, but the other duck does not. Both drakes do and we know they are supposed to, but we were not sure for the gals.

Lastly, we have one duck bigger than the other and one drake bigger than the other. When my kids take them as a pair, should we pair the two smaller and two bigger or mix them one small and big?

Any show tips, please share. We are new to the saxony ducks.

Thanks!

Not sure why, but Flish just died :( My son is very upset! He was having problems with prolapse and seemed healthy otherwise. We noticed his stool was more like diaherra and dark green. He was less active too. Then, we put food right in front of him and he was not interested. We brought him inside for two days and he started to eat and drink again, so we put him outside this morning. This afternoon we noticed he was weaker then before, so we brought him in again and he died. He seemed to have trouble breathing too. Although, he was a big boy and always breathed hard. Peace be with you Flish! :hit

So sorry to hear bout Flish's passing!
Usually you should keep them separate/inside for about a week to make sure it was not just a seeming to be better. Hope your other ones are fine tho!

Thanks. Us too! When we put him outside again we had him in with our goats not with any other poultry. The more I read about birds the more I feel it was liver damage. He was significantly bigger than the other drake. I am hoping it is nothing contagious. I searched the pen after Flish passed and did not find any signs of green poo or diaherra. We cleaned all the watering areas when we noticed him being ill-like and recleaned again today just in case. He also could have had an infection because of his prolapse. I guess time will tell... I'll update again soon.

They sure are beautiful! I am also in michigan, my daughter has just joined 4H. We just received our Holderreads order yesterday. She had been planning to show Welsh Harlequins, so I bought 2 TSQ. So far the Welsh Harlequin are harder to handle, and she likes the Silver Appleyard more.
As bonus ducklings we got 2 golden cascades! They are soooo cute. From pics I've seen they look very similar to the saxony..but I don't think they are APA. Do you know? There is not a lot of info out there about them.
Anyway, if you ever hatch any saxony or have hatching eggs please keep me in touch! ;)

We got a Holderread order of 5 (+1) golden Cascades and 5 saxony. We got 3 white appleyards as bonus (1 didn't make it).

Golden cascades are good egg layers and foragers. Males are darker from birth than females. You can find some info in storeys guide to raising ducks from Holderread himself.

Hmmm...I looked in Storeys guide to ducks. I didn't see golden cascades, guess I'll have to look again!
