Does anyone put leg bands on chickens?

I've seen numbered or colored leg bands on ducks. Does anyone use leg bands to keep track of their chickens?

Sure, anyone who breeds fowl will use a band of some type. I`m fond of wing bands myself. they are permanent and don`t come off or take such a beating as leg bands. Anyone who wants to have a permanent ID for their fowl should use them......Pop

absolutely necessary if you're going to do any serious breeding. Or just to make sure the best rooster doesn't go in the stew pot.
