Does anyone still listen to a record player anymore ??

read only analog decoders. The media is long lived and, unlike current plastic, is capable of being physically degraded and still return a usable signal (what are a few more scratches to Satchmo or Harry Partch?).

I'll give up on this storage media when we've reliable solid state storage.

Bob Wills and Mel Tillis singing Chuck Berry's Memphis in duet, with that AM radio sorta hiss (nostalgia with some authority, harrrummpphhh!).

We still have a Sounddesign stereo system so we can listen to our albums. Our younger friends all think we're nuts because of it even though we are updated enough to have a CD player and tons of discs.

Oh yeah, the Technics still spins occasionally. Beatles, ELO, Steely Dan and some real oldies from DH's childhood in Holland (the Netherlands, not Michigan). DD gets to hear St Nicholas tunes on the "small" records! Somehow, even Bach and Handel sound better on vinyl (yes I actually own some). Now y'all get back out there and upgrade, ya hear?

Never grew up with video games , only got to play those at a couple of friends houses. Which we rarely did, we were outside!

My DH had to call our 7 year old to get the picture in picture off the TV last weekend.

I hooked up the box for the DTV converter, now I can't get the dvd player to work

and dh is offshore working. i hate fooling with that kind of thing

We listen to christmas records but daddy still has a lot more but he does not listen to them because the TV is sitting on the top of the recod player stereo!!

Once you hit 30 you need a three year old to explain modern technology for you.

Ours broke. My 11 year old was devastated! he loved listening to all my old 45s!

I inherited part of my grandparents vinyl collection and even the old Victrola and original Victrola records. I haven't taken the time to actually tinker with it, though.

I would like to find someone local who can look at it for me and refurbish it if needed. It seems to be in good working order, though.
