I inherited a ton of LPs from my mom along with 78's and some weird thick records. Most are from the 50's, but I also have Alice's Restaurant and Lily Tomlin, some Eagles, Johnny Cash and Elvis.
Nothing better than listening to Alice's Restaurant on LP.
We have quite a few albums, some from the 50's that my aunt gave me, but or turntable has bitten the dust. I hinted around for a USB turntable around Christmastime, but DH thinks it would cost less just to replace the albums with CD's, which defeats the purpose and puts me back at square one. :-(.
Yes, I have Martin Denny's Quiet Village on vinyl and I love listening to it. I just found it on Rhapsody player via the Internet so now I can also hear it via the Internet.
You can still purchase record players.. they have them now that even look like the big old styles.. larger pieces of furniture.. but it has everything... record/cd/radio/mp3/ and i think even tape.. ok so wrong on the tape.. and this one doesnt have mp3 but I do remember one that did...
now why didnt the 8 track players get brought back???
Records? I have 3 kids (teenagers) that all have record players and are building HUGE record collections! There is just no aviance with CD's. They find good decent records, oldies, soft rock, country, for as little as 5 cents a piece. They find rare autographed ones sometimes too! I only buy CD's for the car and not many at that! I recently took back a lousy Conway Twitty CD to Wal-mart that had a big defect on it, records are more reliable!
