It depends on how your incubator is made, is it styrofoam?. Do you use a light bulb for heat?

For humidity, remove your water and replace it with a piece of sponge or two. Sponges are easier to take in and out to adjust humidity.

It is a simple plastic tub i put a 40w light bulb in it at first but had to change it cause it started melting the lid so there is one of those energy saving bulbs in it now

I've never built an incubator, but most of the home-made ones I've seen have been made out of something that insulates - like an old cooler, styrofoam box, or even a cardboard box lined tightly with styrofoam insulation panels and wrapped in duct tape.

Never saw one out of a plastic tote before.

Thats a good idea i think I have some good chunks of styrofoam i could line the sides with ill have to try it. Keep you updated if you'd like.
