If there is a will there is a way, was a post about this and it can happen, when they start laying watch for Bullseye to indicate egg is fertile.

if Clyde can do the chicken dance of love I really really hope he can do the chicken ...um act of love LOL
I did not plan on getting a banty roo - he was an oppps they made when sending them - but I really love the little guy and would love to see him and the girls have some babies- they will be cute little " mutts " - clyde does have a girl his size, but I never see him dance for her, I guess my little guy loves his girls big and fluffy !!

Lat year when our roo started doing "the dance" my daughter and I thought it was the funniest thing. What I have learned since is that it is his way of asserting his dominance over the flock which he thinks includes you. This can be a problem long term because it eventually turns into more dominant/aggressive roo behavior including attacks. If you want him to remain a "nice" roo, you should assert your dominance over him. let him know you are the leader of the flock, not him (assertive not aggressive). This issue has been discussed many times in this forum. I am not sure how to find the information on this specific topic, but it has been very enlightening. I only wish I had the information earlier because we may have been able to keep our roo. He eventually became aggressive and would ambush the kids.

Hi Julie,

I wouldn't bet on it ... I have three banty cockerels (2 rocks and a Japanese, which has VERY short legs). The Jap is the alpha (so far) and VERY small compared to my standard pullets. When he first started mating the girls, I didn't see how he'd ever accomplish the act effectively either (not that I want him to as I don't really want Jap-standard babies), but now that he's been at it for a while, I do believe he's gotten it figured it out. I wouldn't doubt that they can lay fertile eggs now.

LOL ... yesterday I saw him sprint from across the yard and LEAP directly onto the back of his favorite red sex-link from behind. That surprised me ... it's not his usual method.

Seriously though, I think your little guy may figure it out with time. Seems where there's a will, there's a way. So if that's what you want, I think you may get it.

well since I have been away from my computer I have not been able to read this thread for awhile --

well Clyde is still doing his little dance and he is really showing off for his bigger girls these past few mornings- he is so cute and not a bad dancer LOL

I thought about getting another roo for the bigger girls and getting more little hens for clyde and building a yard for just the banty's but I think I will just keep things the way there are - I really would like some babies from Clyde and the girls but I will just wait and see what happens this spring.

Clyde is a very easy going little guy - he never attacks me or gives me a hard time he crows about every hour !!! he is very good with all his girls and has chased off a pitbull ( with help from me ) so he is the perfect roo for us.
