I just came back from Rural King and noticed that all the new chicks were on crushed corn cob litter. I have 18 chicks in the brooder that I'm just transitioning from paper towels to shavings but thought this would be so much better. I get tired of cleaning shavings out of the waterer. Sooooo... I bought a bag to try and put it in the brooder. They are, of course, trying to eat it. The chicks at Rural King didn't seem to be bothering with it? I heard it could grow mold but was wondering if I changed it frequently? Anyone experienced with this?
