Shortly after moving them out to the coop I was on the phone with DH when I looked out the window and saw what looked like chickens in the alley. I said "Wow someone else has chickens. I wonder whose they are? Maybe I should round them up."

DHs response was "Are you sure they're not ours?"

Crafty little things. Happens all the time. LOL

I have 4 that escape at will over the 6' fence, and trimming the wings helped for a total of 2 days. and 1 is a heavy breed (BR)

Covering the run with netting is about the only way I know that works.

Trimming my Aracauna roosters' wings didn't help either. The only way I could keep the two of them at home was to spread netting. Good luck with your difficulty.
