Does hanging a cabbage for play, really work?

mine love cabbage.....

Hanging it just at the edge of their reach makes it last longer. If they can get a hold of it easily it will be gone very quickly.

My 12 girls finish off a head in a day.

I have been wondering if I could find something to help my chickens not be so bored since they are locked in the coop for the winter, since we are in North Dakota & the temps are already dipping below zero. I was afraid they could not handle foods that may give them gas, some animals I'm told cannot deal with such foods & it will kill them, so I was worried about giving my chickens even boiled eggs chopped up. I think I have a head of cabbage in the frig I will have to give it a try. I'm glad I came across this post. thank you.

I had to smear one with peanut butter and roll it in BOSS before they figured out that it wasn't going to eat them.

They love it now, but are worse then a little kid when it comes to trying something new.
