Texas summers suck. The last month has been incredibly hot out and I noticed something was up with the chickens poop. I've made sure the chicken coop was prepared for heat by giving the chickens extra shade, water, dust ( for dust baths ) and even put a heavy duty fan out for them. They seem to enjoy the fan and dust, but are still panting quite a lot and I've noticed their poop getting quite watery. I initially thought they might be sick and checked for signs of cocidiosis and other sicknesses. They eat plenty and still walk around and are active so I'm wondering if the heat could be affecting there poop. They are on medicated starter feed and the temp is in the high 90s pretty much every day. There most active during dawn and dusk and then stay in the shade for most of the day.
