Does it depend on the mutt?

Recently five chicks hatched with a very nice broody. They are not purebreds, father is light sussex and the moms are something else. I'm certain that two of the chicks have barred rock mommas.
Anyways someone said on a past post "mutts are hard to home". Once they feather out and I can really tell who the mother is, I think I could figure what eggs they make and if they're meaty enough to be meat birds. So does it depend on the mutt?

I've never had trouble re-homing birds. I quick ad on Craigslist and I generally have a done deal within 12 - 18 hours. If they produce eggs, that's a bonus, but the roos all taste like chicken. True some are meatier, but if I'm making a pot of soup stock, 2 silkies work just as well as 1 standard size.

That sounds great.. But I'm not comfortable with Craigslist and my mom isn't either. My chickens make great pets, it would hurt my feelings if someone bought a pullet or cockerell just to eat it. I meant meatier like.. Whatever the person was looking for, but I highly doubt we'll sell a chicken so someone can eat it.
I will be asking people questions, I already have print outs, just to make sure they go to good homes. My mom and I usually visit the persons' house to see what their set-up is.

I believe in hybrid vigor. Our four hens are mutts, they are beautiful in their own ways, and they lay spectacularly. You should re-home them with no guarantees as to appearance, but that they come from a line of beautiful, friendly chickens and good layers. Many small chicken keepers don't care what the lineage of their birds is.

Then yes, I imagine you will have a heck of time re-homing. If you handed me a print out, I would laugh at you. And you sure ain't coming to my house lol.

ETA: Sorry if this sounded mean, but, that's just how I personally feel. I am sure there are people out there who wouldn't mind the interrogation.

Mutts are a dime a dozen and most people are going to walk away when you pull out your, "print outs" and when you tell the person the you and your Mom want to go look at the home of the person getting the birds to see there set up the you are really going to make the people walk.

Oh, wow. Yeah. They might be hard to place, but more because of your conditions and home visits than breed. I don't care if it was the fanciest show chicken in the whole world, I wouldn't buy it if the breeder had to come to my house first! Just out of principle. I find that almost insulting. But I guess I'm not your target market, either.

We visit if it's alright with the person. The people around here are generally nice and let us look at their coops, as my mom wants to improve ours. I'm always up to visiting another person's house especially if they have animals, other than common animals like dogs. The print out isn't needed as long as I have a good feeling from the person.
I understand if the person's house is messy, but I see nothing wrong in asking someone "ooh can I see your chickens?". I totally trust all the people here but in other places like Lancaster or Palmdale, because they are city-like towns I'm cautious. If y'all think I'm horrible lemme tell you the truth.
If they call I ask questions about their set up, their expirience with chickens (or any poultry), "are you going to eat my birds?". I always got no as an answer.
If they are in California and local either in my neighborhood or close, I will ask to see their chickens and yard. I couldn't care less about inside of their house, or trailer. If they say no that's alright. My mom and I like to keep in touch with people locally or close, especially to see the development of the bird (like how they turned out like daddy or to figure which mom is their's).
If they are far away, they can come and pick up the bird. Or we could meet somewhere about an hour away from where I am, ofcourse gas payment and such.
Most who are far away don't call back.
I've already got one person who's intrested, when the little ones are big enough to sex she can come and take a look.

My pretty multi-colored chicks are growing black and white feathers on their wings
