Does it need a floor?

In my short experience with chickens, they seem fine in a tractor as long as they are put away at night. If you have a fenced in yard or family dog protecting them, that helps too. I have a chicken tractor too and dutifully put them to bed every night at sun-down. So far nothing has bothered them or dug under.

I just built a new A frame chicken tractor and to deal with this issue, I attached a wire skirt all around the perimeter to lie flat on the ground. I used Loxit clips to attach the skirt to the frame of the tractor so the skirt panels can be flipped up when I move the tractor and won't get in the way too much. I weigh down the edge of the skirt with a brick, but you could also use a couple of landscaping staples at the corner and then just pull them up when you want to move the tractor.

I took some pictures today but haven't yet had the time to download them. I haven't used this tractor yet because all of my hens are broody right now. This is a tractor for daytime use only, though. My chickens have very secure coops/runs to go into at night.
