I have a crested runner drake and a khaki campbell duck. Here lately when I go out to the yard my drake follows me all over running circles around me but when I stop he runs off. He only does this with me. Does he like me or is it an aggression thing? He doent try to nip at me or anything just runs around me or follows me.

Hmm...I notice that when my Call male is done mating with one of his hens, he'll commence to getting off of her and then 'swimming circles' around her.

So I'm assuming he's trying to dominate you?

If you raised him from baby he is most likely looking to you as a food source.I personaly have never had an agressive duck toward's human's.Try putting a little feed in your hand and stay quite and still and offer the feed.Put it on ground next to you if he doent take from hand, or try a bit of bread and most likely you will be able to hand feed him.I have hand raised every duckling I have had and they will take corn etc. readily if you work with them.

we got him when he was 4 months old. The lady I got him from didnt tame him said they we skittish. Well at first he was. With my DH he runs like crazy away from him. But with me one day I was sitting down looking at our baby chicks they are 5 weeks old and he comes over to me and nibbles very lightly on my forearm. Of course when I tried to pet him he ran away. After that day he follows me everytime I'm outside. He runs around me in circles. Tonight he almost followed me into the house. When I turned around and said Sammy what are you doing he ran off. He really doent seem like he is being aggressive. He doesnt come at me with wings flapping or making noise. Jujst follows me. My DH said Sammy thinks I'm a duck and he likes me.
this is my Sammy

My two are not keen at all about being pet or loved on but when I let them out of their pen, they proceed to follow me around all day. They'll follow me around and then go eat some oyster shell and then find me and follow me around again before running off to play in the pool and then finding me again. With my ducks, I'm pretty sure it is 100% all food related. They're waiting for me to drop something and having fun waddling everywhere and getting into everything in the mean time.

My Cayuga drake loves me - a LOT.

He has a wife, and her eggs are fertilized. He protects her, and he loves her, but he delights in running to me and lightly billing me. At various times, he will bill me a bit harder and I have had "duck hickies" on my forearms to explain to people at work....

But I do think his love is very strongly food-based. He just doesn't "abandon me" if I'm not bringing food. (He's probably hoping he can convince me to go get some, right now, thank you very much!)
