I bought two as ducklings and hatched three five months later. They all act similarly. Lots of time, attention, and treats really helps them learn to trust you. My boys were braver as ducklings so I thought they were more friendly (I did not know they were boys at the time). Now at 16 months and 11 months old, my girls are way friendlier, especially if treats are involved! Your "friendly" duckling could be a drake, and the scared one a hen.
