Hello! My four hens (pet group) were hatched later in the season but they're indoors for the winter so they've started laying. I have 2 steady hens that started laying perfect eggs about a month ago.
A few weeks ago I was finding eggs that weren't fully formed, paper thin shell or no shell at all - figured it was a new lay issue that would work itself out.
Well it's still happening and I actually watched the hen (named Pingu hehe) fluffed up in the sandbox and out popped an egg sans shell - it was 8:30am and she laid another no shell egg last night.
She's not stressed and the other girls are laying fine so I think I can rule out nutrition/calcium as the problem - has anybody ever experienced this?
I'm wondering since its been a few weeks it could just be how she will lay forever, which is fine with me although the eggs are quite gross looking sometimes lol!!
No shell at all with a membrane swirl? There's a yolk inside you can see it xD
This one has a suuuuuper thin shell and dimples when I touch it lightly. Also has that "swirl" mess at one end.
