Does my rooster have a disease?

My Rhode Island Red Rooster has some black mildew looking stuff on part of his comb. His appetite is great and he seems perfectly healthy otherwise. Do I need to worry about the rest of the flock? Thanks for your help.

I live in south texas and it hasn't been cold enough for frostbite. I'll take a picture today if I can.
