does not have characteristic white ring around neck

A friend of mine dropped off a young duckling that was orphaned on his farm. It was a scraggly looking dirty brown color. Well, surprise surprise, that little guy turned into a beautiful what looks like a Mallard drake. However, he does not have characteristic white ring around neck.
At what age does that develop or is my drake a different bird altogether?

Guessing a Khaki Campbell mix. Shading on the breast makes me think of a Welsh Harlequin or Roeun or Saxony or . . . . ?
Edited to add that Khaki drakes don't get the white ring.

that's deffinatly not a mallard his body shape is different just has the simliar colors he's very beautiful!
