Does our flock need more protein?

We have a flock of about 14 chickens. They are not cannibalistic or anything to that degree, but they do like to eat feathers. I was wondering if this is because they aren't getting enough protein? Thanks!

On this topic: We have a pheasant and every day I throw a handfood of his food on the ground which the chickens eat too. Game bird food is high protein -- this isn't bad for the chickens, is it? If okay, might be the answer for the feather-eating.
PS He has a little food bowl, too, high up by his roost so the chickens don't eat it all up!
