I've always heard to let shipped eggs rest anywhere from 8 to 24 hours. Is it proven that letting them "settle" improves the hatch rate? Or is it just a theory that seems logical?

If letting eggs rest really does help, how much difference does it make?

In my case, it made a big difference. When I first started out I didnt let them settle as long, maybe four to six hours. When I let them settle for a day, my hatch rate really improved.

Thanks for the feedback.

With my first 5 hatches I let them sit for 4 or 5 hours, and my hatch rate was from 20% to 50%. I got some Frizzle Cochin eggs yesterday and this time I let them settle for 18 hours, so we'll see.
