My splash silkie chicks are in thier first "feather" phase I guess you could say out of thier chick puff completley and into their pooffy feathers. However they look very white, I dont see any obvious blue markings/tints like I did when they were puffy chicks. They deffinatly weren't white as chicks they were splash. Anywho, now they look white like I said. They are almost 2 months old (around the 18th they will be). Would love any educated input on this

I have a blue silkie that's from the same hatch it's an obvious blue that's why im confused why I dont see blue on it's splash siblings.

thanks!

The splashes tend to look almost more light grey but not all white. You possibly may have a white? If you have pics people can help you in the guess work.

Mine started out looking white, but starting looking splash after about 4 or 5 weeks. Now, at 8 weeks, he/she has very distinct "splashes". Here is the chick pic. The one that turned out splash is on the right. The other one became white.

I just reread your post...If they look a little on the grey side you may start seeing the full splash markings later too. If you were seeing splash marks when they were young you may just have to wait to see those markings. Mine was kind of dull at first too but now he's very splash like and he's about 5 months old now.

I bought them as splashes from two reputable breeders so im sure they are splashes I just didn't get the "why do they look so white right now?" thing lol! Thanks for the input guys I appreciate it! I'm just being impacient it sounds like!

Many thought that the blue here was a splash as a chick but I thought it was a blue at first then I thought splash, now i think blue again

I've been having some of my "splash" chicks feather out white then they start to get the blue splashing later on. Are these some of the eggs I sent you??

I'm pretty sure Toby is a boy, Mouse not sure (pullet possibly but im no expert), and Mouse dunno either but i bet pullet as she's the only one with a single comb and it's small. I think you had said you had a single comber in your flock so this cutie must be from it!

Single comb or not doesn't matter to me one bit as they are going to be in my mottled silkie project so the single comb will be in there anyhow from the cochins

Thank you again for these babies I really adore them
