So my girls have slacked off since splitting the flock w/ my grandsons. I have 5 adults .they have 4.(I also have 19 chick in 4 brooders. different ages and breeds) I gave the boys the more solid layers, and their doing great.(4 for 4 almost daily). Mine a kind of finicky and seem to be affected by the loss.
Does that happen? or did I just give myself the slackers?
BTW to encourage the girls I put shavings and fresh rosemary in their nesting area, their coming out of the coop singing Koom- buy-ahh (sp?)

Any kind of disruption can effect the laying. They should be back to normal soon

Imp- and why fresh rosemary?

I read in Backyard Poultry that chickens like all kinds of herb scents; lavender, oregano, thyme, rosemary, peppermint, sage. They suggested that rubbing up against the herb was beneficial toward relaxation and relieving stress. It is used as and external anti-bacterial and anti-parasitic. The whole idea is that they rub up against it and get the essential oils on their feathers. What ever... it smells great.
