Does the crest make a difference in sex of polish?

You have to wait about four weeks for a final answer. The color and size of the wattles at about 7-8 weeks will tell you for sure. The crests do look roo-ish to me, but that's not the most determinative factor. I've been wrong before guessing just by the crest. Post a face shot when they're 8 weeks old.

Yes, they do look like one another. That is why I posted it under your thread. I am guessing they are 6-8 weeks, I would have to go back and check. We bought them as small chicks and they were suppose to be sexed. I had to just give away a rooster. I know that sexing isn't a guarantee, but it's heartbreaking when you put so much energy and get so attached. Sadly we are not allowed to keep roosters where we live.

We can't have roosters either and I haven't had good luck with the sexing. I haven't had to give away any yet but i just started with chicken's. I believe i have 1-2 roos out in the coop and had another in my first flock, they were 5-6 weeks but my dogs killed all of them so i had to start over. I don't think yours are but about 4-5 weeks like mine. Mine were 5 weeks as of Monday. I hope we both have pullet's. We can compare them together as the grow. I guess we will know for sure when they lay an egg or crow whichever comes first.

That will be fun. We have only had chickens since March and I doubt if I will be housing the Polish with the other girls. I am sorry to hear about your chickens. I have two small indoor dogs, and a dog that lives in the garage and outside. He was on his way to getting the chickens but we caught him and put rocks around the cage. My friend just lost her first flock to her two dogs. Heartbreaking.

They are good. I put them outside with the rest of the flock and they seemed to have gotten so much prettier. I will try and get some pictures in the morning and post them. How are yours?

I wish mine were outside, We have been letting them out in a cage to socialize and they do fine with all the hens but the top gal and she basically beats them up and I can't stand it nor do I think they would make it through the night with her. I think they are going to need their own coop. So no crowing yet?
