New chicken mama here. Lol
This is probably a stupid question. My babies have turned 20 weeks and one has started laying and then yesterday I found a different egg from another one. I have a mix of hens. Anyway, my question is what time do chickens consider the start of daytime? My rooster starts crowing at 5:00 in the morning. Do they consider that the beginning of daytime? Just trying to get an idea of how many hours of daytime there getting now.
Thanks ☺️

I'd count actual sunrise to sunset as more accurate than when the rooster starts crowing. My rooster, Sir Henry the Loud, likes to start hollering at about 3:30 or 4 a.m. I am sure the girls are no less impressed with his alarm clock routine than I am.

I really don't think they consider it at all. :D

When it get light enough they some off the roost to eat and drink.
When it starts getting dark they go to roost.
Both can vary.
