This is my attempt at keep a record book of my chickens egg laying cycles like if she lays for 5 days straight and takes a 1 day break and starts over again, I want to know who lays when what the egg looks like (big or small, light or dark) and how many egg I get each day, week, and month, I will also put when someone goes broody, is she is hatching any eggs, and what the hatch rate is. I will also say what season it is (spring, summer, fall, or winter) and what the weather is like (hot, cold, sunny, cloudy or rainy)...I think it will be fun to see who the best layer is and what everyone cycle is and if the weather affects their cycle.

Interesting, I just started my own egg laying chart, have to admit though mines not quite as complex, it has the chickens name and the day of the week, I guess I could add the date then I could look back in a years time and see about cycles and such.
Hope your system helps :)

I'm curious about how you know which hens layed and which ones didn't. I have 5 girls laying and can never figure out who layed what unless I'm standing right there when she does her job.

And by the way, my little 1 winged girl... Tripod, sat her first clutch this spring. All of her eggs hatched out and we now have 5 more hens and 2 little roos. She was an awesome Momma and her babies are now about 20 weeks old.

I go down there alot and watch them to see how they are acting...I can tell which one of my hens is laying not only because I have seen the 2 that are laying lay an egg but also because my roosters will take the hen (s) to a nesting box and show her where to lay...they do that everyday and I can watch them from in my house I know if I cant see one of the hens that is laying she is in the coop so then I go out and see if she is in the nesting box and if she is I wait until she lays it and write down the time of when she laid it...ti takes time and I dont know if I will do it for much longer, not sure if I can keep up with more than 2, but I hope I can i love doing this....I dont have a job and I am Home Schooled so I can spend more time with my chickens than the average person could and I have time to do this and sit down there with them and watch them... it would make things a lot easier if they would sing the "Egg Song" after they laid it we could hear them form the house and when I would hear them I would go out there but my 2 hens that are laying have never sang the egg song...I dont know why either
