Hello! My hen hatched and raised some babies that are about 5 or 6 weeks old now. They’re very independent and she isn’t calling them over much anymore. The hen started doing the egg song a couple days ago randomly. It’s a few times a day. She just stands in the middle of the yard and sings her song! No eggs. My yard is teeny tiny so no chance of hidden nests, I search often. And, she finally let the rooster mount her today- she wouldn’t at all while she raised her babies up. Is this normal behavior when a hen is ready to start laying again? She lays the biggest brown eggs so it’d be nice to have that again. Thanks!
