Does this cockerel have split wing?

I just acquired this Chocolate Orpington cockrel and just noticed his wings look different from the other one. I'm new to raising chickens and after doing some research I'm wondering if he has split wing? If it is, would he not be considered breeding quality? Sorry if this is not the right place.

I am following because I am curious what others with more experience think. I am wondering if the bird is too young to judge yet as its not completed its feathered in?

He is mighty young, hasn't even molted his first feathers yet. He looks to have an axial feather so, no he is not split winged but he may be weak winged. Give him some time and let him molt those chick feathers, if the wing still doesn't fold properly then you can decide what to do with him.

Blessings,

Bo

Hi:) I have some Salmon Favorelles chicks I just bought and 2 of them have normal wings and 2 of them have strange wings like this guy. May I ask what ended up happening with him? Did he grow in fine? I attached pictures of my chicks wings. The split looking one and the regular one. At first I thought maybe it had to do with sex but after researching I’m scared it’s split wing😱 Please share any advice on what happened for you.

thanks!

Those birds aren’t nearly big enough. Wait until they grow in their adult plumage before evaluating their wings.
In the end, it’s a trait that doesn’t really matter anyways as long as you aren’t breeding for exhibition. (It doesn’t harm the bird.)
