Does this look alive ?

Adorable! I guess the temperature was a bit low in the incubator?

Yes, you should be able to lower the lamp, but keep an eye on the tub as some of them can melt. You want one end to be at least 95, with the other end a bit cooler so they can move away if they need to. Propping the thermometer up so it’s measuring the air near the ground might get a more accurate reading.

Also watch out with buttons, some can start to fly around a week and a half!

Thank you , yes I will do that , im sure I will be glued to them 24/7 as we're all on lockdown here in Dublin so this is the first exciting thing all year lol
Im not sure when it actually hatched so how long should I leave him in the incubator before moving him to brooder , we're calling him Sunny 🌞 hes a little ray of sunshine through this pandemic 🥰🥰🥰

I love the name! They can be moved to the brooder as soon as they dry, but leaving one can encourage the others. I’d probably figure out the earliest possible time he could have hatched, and take him out no longer than 12 hours after that.

Oh and I feel you with the lockdown, we’re the same in London! Hatching my buttons was definitely the highlight of 2020.

Thank you ⚘💝
Im a leader in a local voluntary group for children with different abilities most on the spectrum. My own children are late teens but the children in my group have been watching live on zoom and this has definitely been a tonic to us all. One of the mams let me build a pen on her land 3 years ago. so we had ex battery hens, they only lasted about 18 months and died on us but had an amazing life , then i rescued 2 polish hens with bumble foot, after 6 months of treatment one had to be pts , but one is stilll here and got better, then we hatched pekin bantams and got 3 males, so 2 we rehomed with family and 1 still lives with the polish hen , for Christmas I asked my husband to fix my pen up lol so he put a new roof and concrete base in , no rodents , much cleaner for when the children can come back down. I have a large rabbit cage for when the buttons get older so they will be staying here and live with us , and i,d like to have them very tame if possible? any tips, Thank you 🙏🥰🥰🌞🐣🌸
heres some pics of last summer , and of my new pen 🌞

Tgis is why i candle on day 8-9 lots of veins
Day 20 and i just woke up and one hatched overnight 🤩 the original egg in this thread didn't make it , there was a tiny crack since last Tuesday which started to go green so i took it out and the chick had died😔
I was nearly given up on them all untill somone suggested the book by Jodie McDonald and I ended up tracking her down to buy it online and she told me that i had basically set it up for a later hatch by my settings so I just had to wait and this morning I woke up to this little ray of sunshine 😍😍😍😍😍
@RubyStarzy so glad it worked out for you. And yea that books like 26-30$ and honestly i paid for a copy monday online lol 😆 since i finally had the money for it im just so mad they dont want to sell it anymore on amazon so it could be cheap or cheaper, everywhere else its like 90% like ebay and such its insane, ur baby looks wonderful and looks a lil somthing like a sipver or slat r something at work there so cute cant wait to see more pics of them

What are those chickens ? Bantan ?

He was in the incubator alone hours so I moved him into the brooder , hes dry and cute, but hes not to fussed on eating or drinking yet , Im using my finger to peck at the food and he seems to be trying but not much , i have water out with marbles ect but i did use a dropper and put it at his beak and he still wasn't bothered with water,
I have YouTube baby quail sounds on beside the incubator to try encourage the other 4 to hatch , so im really hoping atleast one does so hes not alone,
Is there anything else I should or shouldn't do 🥰
Im absolutely in love with this little guy 🥰🌞🐣 xx
