Does this look like a RIR to you?

I have two chicks that look just like yours. One have the dark brown feathers above his wings and the other is growing lighter feathers around her body. I got them from a farm that has Rhode Island Reds and White Leghorns. However, I was told the ones they give out for hatching were a cross between a RIR and some sort of "Hybrid" that used to be called a "California Cross" that are supposed to be excellent layers. But he didn't give me a current name and I can't find anything about this "California Cross" he speaks of.

The one with the dark brown feathers is shorter and doesn't have as many feathers as the other. Mine are like clones of yours!

Oh my. And I had really been wanting to avoid having any males. I have noticed that that one does this weird thing where it stretches it's neck waaaaayy up and moves it back and forth.....maybe the forebearer of crowing? None of the others do that. Gah....

here are some of my RIR chicks starting at day1 to 1wk old to 2wks old....
i hope this helps identify the breed of chicks. either way, you have some healthy looking chicks...
