What is blue comb?

It's an intestinal infection. It turns their combs blue. I didn't know anything about it either till I was looking for reasons why my hens not eating and is just standing around

She hasn't eaten in 36 hours that I know of,shes separating herself from the others,she keeps laying down or she just stands and stares.

Any blue discoloration to the comb is a symptom of lack of oxygen/ poor circulation. Could be a heart problem but the few that I've had with a blue tinge to the comb didn't last for more than 24 hours.

You could try giving half of a 81mg baby aspirin every other day and see if it improves. It's a lot of maintenance. Depends how emotionally attached you are.

Either way it's not something that can be ignored.

It looks to me like she is having heart problems. Many problems can affect the heart, and in a hen over 2, they may suffer from reproductive or liver problems.

Can you tell us how old she is, if she is laying eggs, and if her lower belly is enlarged or swollen? Does he comb become pinker when she is resting?
