Does this make me a terrible chicken owner?

We have just under 2 acres, so it's a decent amount of property but definitely not a ton. They mostly stay off to the side lot we own, it is always the oldest ones that are in my landscaping, on my porches, etc. Once we put in new mulch anywhere, though, they all come running! I have more mulch spread all over my 2 acres than I do in my landscaping!

My 32 chicks are all locked up. They have a 22' x 23' run. I would love to give them more free ranging, but won't due to predators and neighborhood animals.
