Does this make you mad?

So your dad has a thing for white chickens. Thats what he was raised with. Why not get some white chickens for the flock.

My dad loved his tomatos... now I grow tomatos and think of him.

I'm sure he has perfectly valid reasons for feeling that way ---- but that doesn't limit YOUR flock at all. Don't worry about it!!!

I personally don't think much of small dogs. Anything I have to bend over to pet doesn't qualify as a "real dog" to me. That doesn't mean that I think they are cats or something else, I just won't have one myself. It has NO bearing on what other people want to have.
My boss keeps weenie dogs, and I took his recommendation when I was looking for a new vet. Obviously I do think that they are dogs if I'm seeking his advice on a dog-related-subject, they're just not the kind of dog that I would ever own. See?

My Grandmother used to say about my bantams..those things are worthless, don't let them get near my hens, they'll mess up my big eggs...I used to think what in the world Nanny,,,that can't happen. I loved her to pieces she was my best friend....and i would give anything to hear her say it again. don't hold this against your dad. It's just his way.

That has to be the nicest, most loving and classiest thing I have seen on BYC in a long time. Thank you for the thought, warmth and respect put into it.

I agree - and it sounds exactly like something my dad would say, if'n he'd ever had chickens. That's just the way your father sees it - and be ever so happy your father is still around to say anything. I miss mine every day.

I get what he means! (must be a guy thing!) I say a peacock isn't a peacock unless it's the indian blues, that what i grew up with. I guess he just means that it's what he's used to and when he think of chickens he think of what he knew growing up.

I agree completely!. I wish my Dad were here to see my farm.

My brother always says, "Don't sweat the small stuff, and in the scheme of things, it's all small stuff".

Well, it might be that you've expressed to him a great fondness of black chickens and that he found something to "pick" at you about. For instance, this quote of a statement you made in another thread...

Daddys do that from time to time.

Or, maybe it had something to do with pin feathers, processing, and his father's approval...
