I am very new at raising chickens....I love it! I have just recently received 3 eggs in the last week from my 6 Isa Brown's. Only one has a very red and mature looking comb on her head. Does that mean that she is mature enough to lay her eggs?

Pullets combs usually get a brighter red when they are ready to start laying - either that or it's a roo.

Thanks for your input~who knew I could get so giddy over a chicken and an egg?

An egg is just one of nature's perfect things....and it's that much easier to understand, and to be in awe of it, when you have personally had a hand in producing it.
